R. I. P. GoPro

This weekend, the sunset aligned with Manhattan's East/West streets creating Mahattanhenge.  Manhattenhenge occurs a couple times a year, and makes for a great photo-op of the city sunset.

My plan was to capture a timelapse of the sunset with my GoPro camera as viewed from the East Village - well, the middle of 14th street in the East Village.

Inevitably, a firetruck came rolling around a corner with it's sirens blaring, and I made the call to leave the camera in the street to capture an epic shot.  When the first wheels of the fire engine straddled the camera I was excited, then seconds later pieces of platic shattered across the street, and I heard the fatal crunch of the camera.

I recovered the SD card, but it is not being recognized, so the footage is lost.

Here's a tribute of some of the footage I shot with that GoPro.

Bustripping Instagram Video Campaign

This summer, the app Bustripping, which allows users to "compare multiple bus companies side-by-side in the U.S. and Europe to find the best ticket" is launching an Instagram video campaign. Here's the comment from their Instagram @Bustripping:

@bustripping is launching our Destinations video series! Each week this summer we'll post a quick video highlighting some of the great cities bustripping can get you too. These include #NYC #Boston #NewOrleans #Charleston the beach and so many more! It's summer! Let's Go! #travel #bus #summer #beach #cheap #weekends #trips #bustripping #letsgo

This Instagram video campaign serves as a good marketing tool especially since the company has a mobile-first strategy. The campaign makes good use of the 3 most important aspects of digital marketing too; mobile, social, and video.

To view the videos make sure your URL has HTTP (not HTTPS) in the front.
